Amers d’Anvers

Pics
Yeah, I remember I judged a fair and gave the self blue a fourth. He was super healthy with strong wiry muscles but he was really ugly and didn’t have the d’Anvers type at all. Apparently he was very fertile too, and had a bunch of hens.
Yeah, my little hen is lovely but she’s a bit small and her tail is skimpy. But my roo is not good 😆 super good boy but shouldn’t be breeding show birds :) I showed him this year because my hen was bonded to him and I hoped it would help her be calmer, but she’s been moved in with the good boys and girls now 😍

This is momma Puffin to the cheeks baby…I just love her 😍

Awwww! D’Anvers faces are the best chicken faces. What other face is so round that it makes your heart melt?
I might have to show my wrong eye color pigeon hen to make my Arabian Trumpeter cock make noise at the fair. He’s a talker at home but he was quiet when I showed him alone.

I know, I just can’t think of anything cuter than d’Anver faces 😍😍

Yes!! He needs his lady to feel manly and show off! 😍

I just hatched 20 new d’Anver babies—they’re all adorable—but this one is my favorite 😍🥰 The cheeks! 😍😍

Big cheeks. My d’Anvers have huge beards when they grow up, but my quail chicks have always had pretty small ones.

This is probably the most d’Anvers I’ve seen in a Wisconsin show, and I didn’t even bring all I signed up for (three of mine were molting.) A breeder came up from Missouri and it looks like I have some stiff competition. I was expecting to get the d’Anvers award easily. (At this show they have special awards for particolored varieties in honor of the APA’s 150th anniversary.

The only way to get her to put her tail up is to bring a chicken over to get her worked up. She totally charged Filipe and traumatized him.

she didn’t quite charge Margaret, though.
Filipe and another cockerel were fighting. I didn’t realize that I put him in the wrong cage 😑

do you think this one will beat mine? Time will tell. Her black is very chocolatey, which is actually what the standard calls for.

Also she laid an egg. :)

This is my last junior show (it was a show where I was in both the open and junior show, but I only made it to best in class at the open level) so it was a real treat to finally win reserve of show. (And champion bantam.) The closest I’ve might have gotten before was best RCCL.
