You're funny, that's a good one; I can just picture it happening by your description. I wonder if he was a Mennonite, I've seen them drive trucks when I lived in Ohio for 1 1/2 years & they seemed to have limited contact with outside their own community. Also, in my area people seem to be leaving good stuff out on the sidewalks or outside their fences hoping & expecting someone to just take it. They don't even leave a sign, it almost encourages people to just take what they want, weird. I see some of the greatest stuff but never stop, as I'm afraid of looking like I'm stealing & besides there must be someone else out there that needs it more. Maybe just mark you're next "special" bucket with a big permanent marker with "this belongs to (house & street address) please do not take away." Or, just keep doing what you've done & maybe collect some more ammusing stories to share. Anyway, I'm still laughing from your story. Take care!

As somebody who has amish relatives...there are some amish that drive( called beachy amish here, my paternal grandfather and family were such). Dress exactly like old order amish , but drive. Also here , some are allowed by their church to keep drivers licenses to drive work vehicles by their church , but not personal vehicles.

OMG! That is too funny! The visual had me gasping for air for a moment,..

. I bet he just thought he was doing a good deed and recycling. We have a decent size mennonite community here and they are VERY frugal. They are awesome people, I am sure your poo bucket is in good hands!

I used to put used cat litter into a 5 gal bucket and when it was full, take it to the curb. Our trash company in the city would empty it and leave it. When we moved, the new trash company would pick up the full bucket and toss it in the truck. So now I don't put anything out I don't want to lose.

We don't have any trash pickers, really. There's only 4 houses beyond ours on this road.

A friend of mine was shampooing her couch outside the front of her home. It was on the sidewalk that led to the front door. She left it out there to dry and while she was inside someone drove up and stole it!

I guess, like your bucket, they thought it was "free stuff".

People! You can't live with them and you can't shoot them for stealing during the day!
