It's DUCKLING DAY!
wee.gif

Off to Ideal in Cameron we went. Google Maps was really pessimistic about the time it would take. We got there about 10:30 am. Wandered around scenic downtown Cameron, Texas until noon when we met with NickyPick and Harold and had a nice lunch and than it was back to Ideal to pickup our orders.

Here's OldGal in front of Ideal Poultry.

And here's the quackerettes as the nice lady at Ideal showed them to us.

And here they are in their brooder. My camera doesn't deal with the red heat lamp very well. They're doing great, running around, drinking, eating, peeping and pooping. Boy, do they like water. They've went through 2 quarts in about a 1/2 hour, a lot on the puppy pads. Glad y'all warned me.

They are precious,, and I agree they are gonna need a bigger box in a few days, also watch the temps, with that many ducklings and a heat lamp they could get over heated pretty fast... Congrats to you both!!!

And here's the video, as promised:

I ordered two Welsh Harlequins and a Cayuga to add to my egg laying flock.
Not sure what I am going to do about my Anconas. My drake is a big P.I.T.A.

Yeah, I didn't think of that, but fortunately I started the brooder box out at ~87° F. and with their body heat it's now 90°.

Wish I could say I planned it that way, but it was just beginners luck.
