I was out in the front yard playing with my Sebastopol goose, Peter. I heard this strange bird call, looked up into the sky and saw this hawk coming out of a tree, toward the ground. I looked toward my chicken run, which is totally covered, and all the chickens were running and squawking and hitting the straw under their coop!

They're all still young yet, less than 3 months old, so I was shocked to see the reaction from them.

After a moment or two, Big Boss, the head rooster (EE) let out his throaty crow and they all came out from under the coop and went about their business like nothing had happened.

It was very interesting to watch!

Chickens for having very little brains...have a very good memory of the time that their great-great-great grandfather witnessed the savage pillaging and plundering of their great great great granduncle.

Mine hit the deck when doves fly over as well.
