We have four chicks that are about 5 weeks old - one Easter Egger, one Black Australorp, and two Cuckoo Marans. They were all supposed to be pullets. The Easter Egger I'm pretty sure is a pullet because of her coloring, the Australorp I'm pretty sure is a roo because of comb and attitude, but the Marans I'm not sure about. When we first got them Coke was a lot bigger than Pepsi. They have about equalized in size now but Pepsi has a slightly larger comb and is less feathered while Coke has more distinct black/white barring. Are they just different ages (from a feed store bin) or did we get one pullet and one cockerel? TIA.

Here's Easter Egger Tess, 2 pictures of Black Australorp Twilight, 2 of Pepsi and 2 of Coke

I don't see any prominent wattles on the Austrolorp, so it could be a hen. The comb is suspect though. Can you see red wattles? Larger than on the other chicks?

I don't see red wattles - the comb is definitely pinker than our other chicks though and much bigger. Is that just the breed? This chick also hates to be held and fights to be free. That's another reason I was suspecting roo.

Hard to say, they will fool you sometimes. It looks like the beginnings of a rooster's comb, but with no wattles that are prominent right now, it may just be an oversize hen's comb. I hope it's a pullet and all works out for you.

I purchased 10 Australorps this time last year and wound up putting three cockerels out of the ten in the freezer, then enjoying them myself because my family wouldn't eat the pets. LOL

The only suspicious bird is the Australorp, as far as males go. The EE is 100% female, as males genetically can't have that coloration.
