ANOTHER pet chicken article

Discussion in 'Managing Your Flock' started by allen wranch, Jul 20, 2007.

  1. Interesting article. I was amazed that anyone could have a rooster in a city/suburb. I’m an ex-city gal and would have been quite vexed if my neighbors had gotten a roo!

    I found this interesting too:
“With few exceptions, crowing roosters aren't allowed in Dallas, but the quieter hens are. That's where things get tricky.

"The bottom line is they [the hens] are going to lay more eggs if there's a rooster around," Mr. McDaniel said.”

    Is that true?

No, not true. Mr. McDaniel doesn't know much about chickens...

Where'd he find such a moron? I got a good enough laugh out of that to email the guy who wrote the article. Maybe next time he'll check his facts!

I was also offended about the part where Mr. McDaniel said he thinks people keep chickens more for the eggs than as pets. My chickens ARE pets, and the eggs are just a lovely bonus.
