Another USPS Rant

Never had any problems shipping birds but the rule of thumb ALWAYS add more fruits than you think they would need in case they got held over. Bad weather is usually delay them a bit but whomever goes out in the runways are the culprits. Delays in airports are rampant.

I had a quad of Hamburgs that stayed in USPS care for FIVE DAYS and fortunately all of them made it but hungry and thirsty. The breeder put MORE fruits that would last more than two to three days which she doubled up on the grapes and apples for them. Might weight a couple lbs more for that case but glad they made it here.

The buyer got the chicks home today around 1:30 this afternoon. They are all alive!!!

The smallest pullet is not doing real good, but she gave them electrolyte water immediately before she let them have food, so they wouldn't choke themselves.

I have not heard anymore from her since. I believe she will send me an e-mail to let me know their status in the next 24 hours.

When justasnak shipped me some birds via usps, they were promised and she paid for overnight delivery! Two days later I finally got them. Thanks to my wonderful post mistress she emailed every stop that they should be making and said they had permission to open the box and put some water inside. They were not showing up on any scanner but thanks to my p.m. the birds finally arrived well and inside was a tiny bowl that held water from being opened somewhere along the route. Plan on at least two days and never tell them there is food inside the box!! I am so glad these birds arrived well...we hope.
I am also appreciative to learn the status of FedEx now. Thanks all.

if they were garonteed(sp) over night delivery and the reciept says next day delivery by a certain time whoever paid the shipping is owed a full refund for non delivery in the alowed time frame. the person who mailed them needs to take reciept to the post office to get it. that's the same dang fed-x(Fed EX facility in Memphis) that lost my 6 pigeons comeing in from tx and just had to refund me TWICE.

u'd think they would learn to scan the animals and care for them but nope it's just cargo and they don't care and usps is who has to pay the refunds it is stupid. they definately need a better system.

what about the animals like my birds comeing in who r shipped with no water or food???

at least when i ship i know to pile on the food for 24 hours, electrolytes, water ect. then to put apple or fruit in for them but some people do not know u can do that. then ya got idiots like my post mater that say well it's not my job to call the country side to look for them you'll just have to wait and if they r DOA oh well hope they r insured to get a refund for the dead ones. WHAT?? what is that??

Glad I did not get a bunch of eggs from UPS. We ordered a "Christmas present" that was shipped UPS. It departed on the 16th and we STILL have NOT go the thing. They told us MAYBE Monday, depends on the weather and the carrier may still be on vacation. We live in a small community. I will NOT ship with UPS EVER !! So it aint just the USPS, it is all those silly shippers. They have gotten so expensive and so uncaring.
