Never had any problems shipping birds but the rule of thumb ALWAYS add more fruits than you think they would need in case they got held over. Bad weather is usually delay them a bit but whomever goes out in the runways are the culprits. Delays in airports are rampant.
I had a quad of Hamburgs that stayed in USPS care for FIVE DAYS and fortunately all of them made it but hungry and thirsty. The breeder put MORE fruits that would last more than two to three days which she doubled up on the grapes and apples for them. Might weight a couple lbs more for that case but glad they made it here.
