I keep some chickens I have been raising from chicks seperate from my older flock. They are in a separate coop in the run.

It is getting warmer here.. and the critters and bugs seem to be on the move. We are moving houses here in about a month, so we are cleaning things up and out and I went to go let out the baby chickens today. And noticed their woodencoop was plagued with ants!

I am not an ant person myself. Just seeing those firey red fire ants makes me want to shudder. The chickens aren't big enough to be put with the rest of the flock.. and I need those ants GONE! Is there any way I can quickly get rid of them?

Without harming the chickens of course.

The ants seem to be crawling in the cracks of the chicken coop.

Permethrin spray. It will not hurt the birds and the ants will. Chickens do not eat ants. Spray the surface where they are walking and spray it good into the cracks and holes they are coming out of.
