Any Authors On This Site?

Ken is always asking me if I‘m in the car with him or back in Scotland!!

Oh, I don’t expect perfection in what I read…notice that the conversation about them feeling the “electricity between us when we touched” only elicited an eye roll and a note in the margin. But you can’t have hummingbird wings in Scotland when the bird has never existed on that side of the ocean! That’s just too blatant for even me to handle, and so were the literate stable boy and heroine! Even the author agreed with me on both points!
I don't think I'll have too much of a problem with wildlife...I love researching what animals live in other places! And, being a birdwatcher, I can see how a bird in the wrong country could be annoying.
The one I'm working on now is set in Medieval times. I do try to remember that most were not educated in the least back then. But it is hard to find some information from that time period. And though I'll avoid talking about electricity and hamburgers, there is no way I'll be able to authentically talk in Old English. (Though it is fun to try in everyday life)

Hopefully tagging the right people this time

I have been summoned. I hasten hither and query the tagger; for what purpose hast thou summoned me?

I'm a write, but not an author...yet!

I want to write some historical fiction novels, but I worry that I'll make mistakes like this. I'll defiantly have people proof read them and do my best, but my books would have to be more on the side of giving the readers the experience of living in that time period and the history of it, rather than the tiny details. No author, writer, or book is perfect.

Same here. Some are just fun to imagine and write!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does this! I have stories running through my head all day!
Oh, hello, there! I believe that we've spoken before. How go your writing endeavors?

Oh hey this is cool! I really enjoyed reading through this thread! Blooie, your story of how you decided to start writing your book is hilarious!

I have my first novel fully written, but now am in the rewrite/editing phase. I hope to get it out to a professional editor sometime this month and contact a cover artist around the same time. I may have to split it into two shorter books since it keeps getting longer the more I edit it! Right now by word count it should clock in at around 450 pages so it's a bit of a chonker, lol.

So exciting to see others on here writing as well!

Congratulations on finishing your first novel!! Keep us posted once it’s in the pipeline of editing and publishing!

I’d be interested in knowing what fueled everyone’s interests in writing. Was it inspiration from a favorite author or book? Just something you’ve always enjoyed doing from the time you were young? A creative spark that needed an outlet? I know where my love of words came from. Inquiring minds……….

I had a thought about how a murder might be committed. Then how someone else could be framed for it.

I described it to a friend of mine who was a cop (and a writer) at the time, and he said, send it to me when it's done. He thought it was great, but the agents I queried were less impressed.

Well, one publisher wanted to publish it, but he only published Christian fiction. And since there were unmarried people in a sexual relationship, and nobody seemed to be upset by that, he felt he couldn't.

Now some of the computer stuff is REALLY dated, so :idunno

I have several original works in progress, but I don't work on them regularly. Progress on them comes in spurts. I hope to get at least one of them published someday, but that probably won't happen.
Mostly, admittedly, I write fanfiction. Started writing that stuff regularly a couple of years ago, though I haven't finished any multi-chapter ones. That's where most of my inspiration lies, I guess.
I think by this point that I just write for fun. It is fun, and I enjoy both working on my original stuff and fan stuff.
