I don't think I'll have too much of a problem with wildlife...I love researching what animals live in other places! And, being a birdwatcher, I can see how a bird in the wrong country could be annoying.Ken is always asking me if I‘m in the car with him or back in Scotland!!
Oh, I don’t expect perfection in what I read…notice that the conversation about them feeling the “electricity between us when we touched” only elicited an eye roll and a note in the margin. But you can’t have hummingbird wings in Scotland when the bird has never existed on that side of the ocean! That’s just too blatant for even me to handle, and so were the literate stable boy and heroine! Even the author agreed with me on both points!
The one I'm working on now is set in Medieval times. I do try to remember that most were not educated in the least back then. But it is hard to find some information from that time period. And though I'll avoid talking about electricity and hamburgers, there is no way I'll be able to authentically talk in Old English. (Though it is fun to try in everyday life)
