Any breed of chicken that fly?

Invest in some good fencing. And get some Easter Eggers. All of mine can fly, even the huge roosters.

They are in "flight" mode, which is a function of the very primitive part of any brain - this is not an indication of lack of intelligence. Some breeds are more inclined to decent flight than others, but 9 feet is not a small height for a domestic bird, especially one in a panicked state of mind. A good steward would address the neighbor dog issue, more effective than debating the intelligence of the victims.

Couldn't agree more.
Sounds like those dumb chickens are the only ones doing the right thing.

All of my pens are covered with heavy duty netting. I also have electric wire around all of my pens. I have a pretty heavy duty power supply for my fence. Whenever I have accidentally touched it, it has made my heart skip a few beats. My Leghorns are the only birds that seem to be able to find a way out. Recently I went out to put birds back into their pens and one of the Leghorns (Houdini) was missing. I looked everywhere and no sign of her anywhere. I think a hawk may have gotten her and carried her off as I had seen a hawk around. She would get on the roofs of the coops.

I have had critters (such as coyotes) touch the wire and heard them cry. I guarantee they don't come back for another try. I had a fox dig under one of the gates to one of the pens and go in kill birds and drag them out. I solved that problem too by putting concrete under the gates. I relocated the fox.

The highest I've ever seen my Golden Comets fly was about 2 1/2 feet, for around 6 or 7 feet.
That's when they were at the far side of their large pen and they saw/heard me open the back door of my house.
I have never seen them have to run/fly from danger. GC

When integrating my EE one of my RIRs spooked her and I watched her fly six or seven feet high! She was trying to get on top of the shed and unfortunately ran out of momentum but it was very entertaining to see. Her new perch to run to is my head.
Also, I agree with the others who mentioned seeing about that dog. If it keeps killing your chickens, I suggest you speak with the owner and see what you can do. So sorry you have this issue!

I've had skunks try to get into the coop at night with my electric fence protection. Ask me how I know *sigh* Nothing like waking up at 4am wanting to throw up from that awful smell!!!!
I have an apartment for guests when they visit. One day a friend who was staying in the apartment went to town to the local doughnut shop to get coffee and doughnuts. Another fellow who lives in the area was telling him that someone was catching skunks and releasing them in our neighborhood. Most of the property here is 5 and 10 acre parcels with a few larger and a few smaller parcels. All of a sudden we had a population explosion of skunks. I put my live traps out and one night I got 2 skunks in the same trap. All together I caught 13 skunks in a week.

A friend had an issue with a dog on her property killing some of her birds. She went to the owner of the dog and he told he it wasn't his dog coming onto her property. She got a paintball gun and loaded it with bright yellow paint balls. The next time the dog came on her property she shot it with a paintball.
