I can't be the only one! I've always had a thing for cars. I know, a very strange interest for a girl. I think it all began when I was about 5 or 6 years old. My older sister was selling her 4-H horse, and a guy was coming out to look at her. A beautiful '78 Trans-Am (identical to the Smoky and the Bandit car) pulled in the driveway. My sisters were drooling over the guy - I was drooling over the car. I would doodle cars, collect car brochures from dealerships, and was even guilty of dating guys for their cars )! I used to go to a lot of car shows (as a spectator), but have drifted away from it over time.

This is my 1991 Pontiac Firebird, one week after her new paint job. Not my dream car (which would be a '78 Trans-Am) but its my that-will-do car.

Ahhh, to have youth again...
I grew up surrounded by "gearheads" and took to cars. But I learned to restore and shoot paint. It worked out to be a great deal for me. While they were running around in their super sports and firebirds with beautiful paint jobs traded for high performance motors in my suicide door continental or electra 225.
At 61 I am waiting for my wife to pull the trigger on her next car and I will be handing over her Volvo to a local race builder for a 400 hp upgrade already paid for with two paint jobs.

Hi Trish. :frow

OK, yep.... girl here that digs cars! :wee

I have even changed my own starter and radiator before. Have a basic understanding of the engine enough to diagnose lot's of things. :D

I'm a Chevy gal. Have had and enjoyed the lifted 4 x 4 trucks with big tires and an appetite for fuel for years. And the dirt bikes that come along with them. Yes, my hubby knows he is buying certain vehicles for me. And I may not ever forget my first brand new car (a Hyundai Santa Fe)... though other cars that came after were more exciting.

One year we had more debt than we knew what do with... My hubby got the new Mazda 3i touring, I got the 2001 black Corvette Zo6 with 26K miles on it (black car, black and red leather interior and run flat tires, had 405 hp with the after market cold air induction added, that was a lot back then), and my brand new 07 Honda Accord in addition to my lifted 1994 3/4 ton Chevy extra cab with a 454 and 200k+ miles on it. Started EVERY time. :love

Finances changed and I cried many times before trading in my vet and selling off my other cars to get a new 08 Chevy truck. (calculation put that vet at $700/month to drive) Getting the new truck took some sting out. But I was almost embarrassed to drive it because it was average... only half ton and not lifted with nice off road tires, even though still 4 wheel drive. But the automatic start was awesome. Oh and the chrome exhaust tips on that truck, the engine roared and you could hear the healthy sound from a ways away. Part of what made me give up the 08 truck was when I got the registration bill and Ca wanted $700/year. Our lovely law makers keep coming up with ways to try and put their excess spending off on the people.

We gave up all our fancy cars and paid cash for hubby's granny mobile an 03 Buick Le Sabre and I got a 1997 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive Suburban. We still have both those vehicles, paid for and running.

I considered a Cadillac CTS because they are beautiful cars. Alas, hubby bought me a 2017 1/2 ton, crew cab, eco-diesel Ram truck 4x! I'm still a Chevy girl in my heart, their design just hadn't come far enough to compete with the features of the Ram truck. Funny that they eliminated the name Dodge after the bail outs back in 08. I wanted GAS but the alleged mileage and fact that hubby's always been obsessed with getting a diesel truck, I caved. Well, I do get about 20 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. But they don't tell you about diesel exhaust fluid being required which to me should be counted into the MPG and also diesel fuel cost more than gas, plus I can't just pull up to ANY pump. $45k later... I would have stuck to my guns and got a gas engine... but also maybe 3/4 ton. Hind sight! The truck is beautiful and it fits my entire family VERY comfortably. Love the features.
will be handing over her Volvo
Seems like back in the day... the volvo station wagon was out performing the Porshe 911 or it could have been the 944. But it's been so long I can't remember exactly.

I do remember though back in junior high... it was the Iroc Z that had me drooling. And I also wanted a Mercedes 450sl convertible, eventually the 560se, but now meh.. to Mercedes. :) And also went through a phase of enjoying low riders and "mini" trucks. But actually had and really enjoyed driving Volkswagen beetles a few times. Oh and the Chevy Berreta was a fun car too. :pop

I still think some of the older Camaros, Nova and stangs are sweet rides. I might enjoy a sting ray Vette still.

I'm pretty over the adventures now, but do still appreciate a sweet ride. And yes your is pretty. :D

ETA: 2001 was the first year they produced the Zo6, and it was the C5 body style.

I don't consider myself a car guy, but that is stunning! I've always had a thing for 2nd generation Camaro / trans ams like yours. That and K5 blazers/jimmys and Geo Trackers.

Grease is in my veins. Raced 1/4 midgets at 6yo. Still have the 64 Vette I bought in 72 after HS graduation. Gave the 67 RS Camaro I bought in 74 to my son in 2002. Built many more mostly Chevys. Just finished the brakes on 97 4x4 Suburban tonight. NEVER dated a girl that looked at my Vette. Most girls never saw it until we got to know each other. My girlfriend backed the Caprice I let her drive into the Vette. 2 for 1 ;) Married her anyway. 38 years and I still smile when I see her.
Latest crazy is a Cadillac 4.9, 700R4 in a Suzuki Samurai.
