Any Home Bakers Here?

When I was 11, my oldest brother bought a humongous pumpkin. He carved it, and put my 7-yr-old brother inside to scare the heck out of people. :D
The eyes made a pie, plus. I had never heard of a pie pumpkin until I got married. We always used whatever.

Sounds like fun to me I hide in a coffin the guys have for like 15 years and do the pop out

Rub it on your face and feet while warm. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I like the way you think BC! :lau

Have you ever made pumpkin bars? You make a base similar to the crust of a pie, then you pour over the pumpkin pie filling. They're really good and a lot simpler than a pie. I'll see if I can dig up a recipe.

This is the pumpkin bar recipe I've used in the past, always goes fast!

Great Pumpkin Dessert Bars
1 (15-oz) can pumpkin puree
1 (12-oz) can evaporated milk
4 eggs
3/4 Cups white sugar
4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 (18.25 oz) pkg yellow cake mix
1 Cup melted butter
1 1/2 Cups chopped pecans

* Preheat oven to 350*. Spray a 9"x13" pan with no-stick.
* In a large bowl, combine pumpkin, milk, eggs, sugar and spice. Mix well and pour into the pan.
* In another bowl, mix melted butter with dry cake mix. Sprinkle on top of pumpkin mixture in the pan. Top with chopped pecans.
* Bake for 45-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
* Let cool and cut into bars. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream. Refrigerate any leftovers.

I have a hard time finding recipes for this that does not use a cake mix.
