Any Home Bakers Here?

I made more of those soft oatmeal cookies yesterday instead of the blueberry kind...not too sure those will hold up in Igors lunch with the heat. I did promise to bake him some when I'm off next Thursday though.

I cut the sugar a little bit and added some extra cinnamon to this batch of oatmeal cookies per Igor. I made 24 this time.

Hope you're enjoying the new job DMC...they're going to LOVE your treats :D
I don’t hate it but I don’t love it. I forgot what it’s like to be around kids. Some are very naughty. Kids won’t get the cookies as they won’t be there but hopefully the adults will enjoy:lol:Friday is the last day for one of the teachers so I’m going in early and baking cutouts for the kids to decorate. I hope I don’t miff the cook cuz I’m in her space.
I got the best compliment from one of the guys at our bank. He said I should sell my cookies online. I won’t, but made me feel good:celebrate

peel, wrap in plastic wrap and freeze ...add them to your smoothies
or you can defrost and bake with them. I have done. Works. Aria

Thanks Aria.

What I really want to bake are the banana doughnuts I made back around January. Now I can't find the recipe. I'll keep digging

Found the recipe! And even found a photo from the last time I made them.

Banana Doughnuts
makes 6

1 Cup AP flour
1/4 Cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
dash of grated nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 Cup buttermilk
1 ripe banana, mashed
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 Tablespoon melted butter

Maple Glaze
1 Cup powdered sugar
1 Tablespoon milk
1/2 tsp. maple extract

1. Preheat oven to 325*
2. In large bowl, combine flours sugar, baking powder, spices, salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk, banana, egg, vanilla extract and melted butter. Stir to combine.
3 Spoon batter evenly into lightly greased doughnut pan. Bake 10-12 minutes. Doughnuts should spring back when lightly touched. Remove from oven and let cool.

Make the glaze
1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk and maple extract until smooth and creamy. Dip each cooled doughnut into the glaze. If desired, can sprinkle with cinnamon.

Like to know what you use for Chicken Coop bedding: we have been using hay...but I find it smells an needs to be cleaned often.
We only had 4 chickens and it smelled.

I have seen on U Tube many are using pine wood shavings?????
Thanks Aria

I use the wood shavings Aria. Get them at TSC for about $4-$5 for a big bale-shaped plastic wrapped bundle. A bale lasts me quite a while with my 5 girls.

I like pine shavings, the bigger pieces at Tractor Supply. I use deep litter in my coop.

I used pine with the first flock. Even with deep litter I never had a stink.
The bedding is on sale BOGO at TSC.
