Hey....I left out 1/2 Butter. That's is what happens when you do not have recipe in front of you. Sorry. Aria
@Aria Please go back to the post and click on edit to add the butter. Then I will add the recipe to the google sheet

My son does, but it requires a bread machine. I'm looking for a good one. White is Ok, whole wheat would be better.
I don’t have a bread machine. I can check out Pinterest.
Yep, it's in the Index: #13,761

Those are nice large buns that I used to make for the restaurant.
Thanks Debby!

I make Kaiser Rolls free form also. We use those instead of hamburger buns.
I need a good recipe for Brat Buns.
DH doesn't like to use store bought hot dog buns for bratwurst - that would be sacrilege! But the brat buns in the store are made for their "famous" brats that are oversized - and gross. We end up cutting off almost 3" of bun and feeding it to the dogs.

This is my mother's recipe. We use it for bread, hamburger type buns and hot dog buns.

Dough for Buns

2 cups milk
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
6 tbsp shortening
2 eggs
4 tsp salt
1 pkg active dry yeast
10 cups flour

Place yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water with 1 teaspoon of the sugar.

Allow the yeast to bloom for 5 minutes.

Combine remaining ingredients with half the flour.

Mix well.

Continue working in the flour and knead until smooth and elastic.

Let set for 1 hour.

Shape into rolls or loaves and place into pans.

Allow to raise.

Bake at 425° F. for approximately 15 minutes for buns or 30 to 35 minutes for loaves.

Grease top of loaves with shortening or butter as soon as loaves are removed from oven.
