Any Home Bakers Here?

Yes. Nice to get that color.

I was trying to be polite, but yes it is on the small side.

I agree. It is on the small side. I miss judged it when I was in the field. Well, it happens.

At least it’s a male, and not a cub! Any other way, and I could’ve been in trouble. It’s illegal to take females with young here.

Thanks for being polite, I appreciate it.

do you happen to know why black bears have color phases? I’m curious to find out.

It is easy to misjudge sizes when you have nothing to compare it to.

It is illegal to take a sow that has cubs in all of the states that have bear hunting seasons. There are exceptions such as @penny1960 's situation where you are allowed to kill in self defense.

Genetics. If I remember correctly they have a blue phase in Washington. In the area I got mine, the Blond phase is relatively common. I like the various colors better than pure black but to each their own.

It looks very tasty!

I think I'll just get a small bottle for now and try out Sally's method to make my own.

Have you made any vanilla extract like she has Bob?
I have made vanilla before.

I found a recipe online though. It take months to make it though and it was not quite the same as the kirkland vanilla.

The problem is that the vanilla plants were destroyed in a storm so there is still a shortage of beans. We are moving into baking season so Costco should have it back in stock soon

I was telling DH about my vanilla woes. He just ordered me a 32oz bottle of the Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract like the one I've been using. What a guy! :love
