Any Home Bakers Here?

 :th Y’all aren’t gonna believe it! Okay, maybe it’s not all that, but I was just thinking about pb blossoms. I looked to see what was in stock, and saw vampire kisses. I thought they were just Halloween themed Kisses. Ohhh no! They are filled with strawberry jelly! How perfect!!

Those Vampire Kisses could work out well as a treat decoration for this:

So, I made a bear roast yesterday. A 2 pound rump roast. I have one thing I want to say, then I have a question.

I went to the store, and came back after making the roast. It was gone. All 2 pounds of the roast.

GONE.

I actually traced it to my dog, Buster. He took it while everyone was gone.

Boy, once he’s had game meat, Whether it be duck, goose, deer, or bear, you will never get him back on regular dog food again.

Here’s the question. About how heavy should a roast usually be? Does it depend on the type of roast?

to feed a family of 4 I cook a 4 lb roast--it loses weight in cooking, and we like leftovers. figure at least 1/2 lb serving per person. Roasts in stores beef or pork are usually at least 3 lbs

Your dog ate a whole 2lb roast? Wow, he must have really liked it!

I don't often buy roasts so I'll leave it to others to answer your question.

Sorry about you losing out on the roast though.

He loves his game meat! Maybe a little too much. Fortunately, the roast was cooked to 180, so there’s no danger of trichinosis.

The one thing that went through my head when I found that out was the incident in the movie A Christmas Story, Where the Neighbors dogs come in and eat a whole Turkey that was going to be for Christmas dinner.

That reminds me of the time I made brownies and chocolate chocolate chip muffins for family that was coming to visit. I set them on top of a waist-high cabinet in the kitchen, then left to shop or something. I came home, and discovered a torn apart plastic bag in front of the door. I was confused, then ran to the kitchen. Gone. He had eaten all the brownies and muffins! No bad side effects (other than the worst gas :sick).

Maybe next week I’ll try it in the other crockpot, and try rolls in the big one. Sometime I’ll have to try a bigger loaf in the oval crock to see if I like the results better. The dog doesn’t seem to care if the crust is hard or soft. Heck, he doesn’t even care if he takes one finger or my whole hand when he grabs the bread.
Funny you said that, my dog's greedy they say a dog gets like their owner :)
