Not baking, but I took the plunge. Fingers crossed it works and she'll earn a name by the end if the month.

I thought it was just me who didn't like round loaves!! Look at the color and lift in that loaf you made! Beautiful!! I made a loaf of sourdough yesterday. First time for me taking my usual round Dutch Oven bread and baking it as a loaf. I was overall pretty pleased!Just out of OVEN Artisan No Knead. You know I do not like ROUND LOAVES...I made it into a Loaf.
I’ll be whipping up @NFC’s pizza dough today. But that’s about it.Morning everyone. What’s everyone baking today?

That would be perfect. I have a heat duct in my pantry…what a stupid place for one when the idea is to keep foods at a lower temperature. Anyway, we closed the vent and put some pots and pans over it, but there’s still enough residual warmth at just that spot on the shelf above to make the perfect place to put my starter. It’s usually between 73 and 75 degrees there. I actually went so far as to put one of those remote thermometers there and I keep a kitchen towel there as well. I can keep an eye on the temp from the kitchen and if it drops too much I tuck the towel around the jar.If my house in on the cooler side, is it worth making a little warmish pocket around my wifi router to keep the starter in as it develops?
House anywhere from 64 to 68
Warm pocket - around 74
I read a warmer home can yield quicker development.
Lol...I'm doing the same thing with a thermometer connected to my phone. That would be perfect. Nothing wrong with being involved. Just like our chicks, sourdough is a living entity with distinct needs in order to survive!Lol...I'm doing the same thing with a thermometer connected to my phone.
Good to know my thinking is on track instead of obsessive.![]()
