Any Home Bakers Here?

😁

I live on dark red clay and have a lawn like yours.
It’s awful, isn’t it? Ours is more Bentonite than anything else….it’s like gumbo when it’s wet - gray and super sticky, yet full of grit that scratches everything it rubs against. When it’s dry it’s powdery and blows around everywhere. It’s all volcanic, left behind from the Yellowstone eruption a few hundred thousand years ago.

Yep. Gumbo and setting cement mixed together. Slippery as snot, stains everything and like yours very gritty and scratches things. How it can be gritty and slippery at the same time is beyond me. There is always a red haze/dust on things, but when it does dry up (rarely) it's hard as cement.
Redish based floors help a little. A little...

The darkness runs in veins around here and different areas of the farm are darker than others. Thankfully I had learned on my last place how to make semi raised beds.

It is a long shaped loaf. Like this one.
