Any Home Bakers Here?

This was the best sourdough bread I have made so far. I did not use any additional yeast. This was made with only starter.

I buttered the top to make the crust softer for my husband.

Beautiful loaf. I have that exact same Corning ware dish....would never have thought about baking bread in it... Thanks for your post

Here' something very random, but if you suffer a minor burn (I do often, but I'm clumsy like that) applying a small amount of toothpaste to the burn gives instant relief. I was told this, but did not believe it until I tried it.

Good to know, thanks. Wish I had known that a few months ago when burned my finger being stupid

Wonder how that works?

My sourdough bread turned out a little better but I'm still not where I think it should be. This morning I made sourdough pancakes and they turned out good.
It looks like you want to make loaf bread. I posted the sourdough brochure and it has a good loaf bread recipe. I do not think many have actually gone through that pdf so I will post just the recipe here. The brochure can be found in the index located on the first post of this thread.

Alaskan Sourdough BREAD

1 c Sourdough starter
4 T Melted lard (or oil)
1 t Baking soda
8 c Bread flour (approximately)
2 1/2 c Warm Water
1/2 c Sugar
1 T Salt

Combine starter, all the water, and 3 c flour the night before and place in warm, draft free place.

The next morning add other ingredients and knead till smooth and elastic.

Place in greased bowl in warm place and let rise to double. Knead down again, shape into loaves, let rise to top of
pan plus a little and bake in greased pans in moderate oven -375 for about an hour till done. When it is
ready it sounds hollow when thumped.
Turn out on racks, cover with dish cloth and let cool.

This should work with a bread machine also, just adjust the amount of water (1 1/4 c) to reduce
the volume as it will not take as much flour.

Depending on the flour, especially whole wheat, it may be well to add 1 pkg dry yeast.

It's great to hear that the starter is working!

You should be able to bake some bread this weekend.
