So , got home, still had some muffins left over to take a picture, the only reason they didn’t all disappear was cos my hubby bought 14(!) doughnuts, my daughter and I took 2 with us, 4 were left over, so son and hubby ate 4 doughnuts each and 2 muffins each 😂

I don’t know why, but in Germany it is tradition to eat doughnuts( without holes in them) for new year 🤷🏻‍♀️ you have to order them ahead, or most of them will be sold out, I remember one memorable new years day when hubby bought doughnuts at 3 different bakeries 😅 this year, only 2, I had pre ordered 8 in a bakery, but he thought it wasn’t enough, that bakery had closed at 11 am, so he drove to another one and bought 6 more 🤪

Such pastry is available regularly at Donut Shops in my area. (year round) It is really a Bismark Pastry. But not all peeps know the correct name. They just ask for those filled things.:idunno

You can buy them year around, but usually, they are just regular , either sugared or with icing, filling usually raspberry jam, over new year, they have all kinds of fillings, like eggnog, vanilla, elderberry whatever, and the decorations are more elaborate
I don’t know if I showed you part of my Christmas present from a friend this year?!

She already lays egg and isn’t she pretty 😍 the other half was a Wyandotte rooster, she couldn’t buy a hen without the rooster 😅
As long as he doesn’t get too heavy for my hens and is nice, he can stay
