Any Home Bakers Here?

The recent posts on sourdough got me ready to bake some.

Wish I had decided earlier today, but will have to wait to tomorrow.

Gonna bake Rustic Olive Sourdough Bread..a KA recipe, but I use canned black olives in lieu of the Olive "flavor".

Have only done this once, but it was really good.

That sounds really good sunflour. One thing that bugs me from time to time with KA is their use of ingredients you can only get from them (like olive flavor). I still use their recipes quite a bit but don't want to make anything where basic home ingredients can't be in place of their exclusive ones.

I'd love to see a photo of your bread if you want to share (when it's ready of course, lol).

Will do.

The idea to sub real sliced olives was a Tip from their bakers. But I agree, I don't like to have to buy a "special" ingredient for recipes.

** and do let us know how the Dilly Bread turns out. Sounds interesting.

Hi Alice28! I'd love to get your cheesecake recipe. I don't have any Kahlua, will it be ok without it?

Nice of you to take the kids so the parents can have a night out.

Here's the recipe. If you can't read it, I can type it out, this is just easier

. It doesn't call for Kahlua, I just put it in! Lol. Also, I just do pie crust and roll it super thin instead of doing the graham cracker crust, but either way is fine.

This sounds great…but how do you use the Kahlua? How much do you add?

Thanks! I have the recipe written up and will post it as a pdf--after we get the Kahlua tip.

Liquids in the recipe will often replace the vanilla but IDK?

I just make it exactly how it says, then pore in some Kahlua. The first time I think I did 1/4 cup, the the second time I was going to use up the rest of the bottle ( I had it for probably three years!) and went to pore it in, it didn't look like much, but when I pored it, more just kept coming! Lol! But the cheesecake was really good and I got tons of complements! I go by how it looks. I think last time (for my birthday) I did probably a little under 1/2 a cup.

Got it!

I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner tonight and decided on patty melts because we had everything for that! Then, because of all the Focaccia talk on here I've been wanting to make it, I decided I should make that to use as the bread for the patty melts! So found a recipe on Pinterest that you cook in a cast iron skillet and made that. Super yummy! My first time making focaccia! So we had open face patty melts on the focaccia and green beans cooked with butter and garlic. It's been raining (yay!!) and cold, so we built a fire and had a picnic in the living room. My son was very excited. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Alice28, your picnic dinner sounds great, bet it was fun. Thank you for the recipe for chocolate cheesecake!

ronott1, thank you for the pdf, that helped!

Re: the dilly bread...it was good! Had a bit of trouble getting it out of the pan but the taste was very good. I'll post the recipe tomorrow. Have a good evening everyone!
