Any Home Bakers Here?

I never really liked banana bread, but never tried to make my own. Bet yours is better than what I have tried in the past.

Gee, wish I lived next to you, now that's a sure way to have good neighbors.
When we moved in we really only had this couple come and introduce themselves and greet us. We have since met our neighbors, and we have great neighborhood people... but not awesome next door neighbors! I'm trying to be a better neighbor in hopes that they will be too =)

Do you like blue berries?

Yes, I love blue berries.

Then try this:

Quote:
1 stick butter, melted
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 over ripe bananas
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. frozen blueberries
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Mix butter, sugar and brown sugar together. Add eggs, buttermilk. Mix well. Add bananas, mashed. Mix together flour, soda, salt and add to banana mixture. Add blueberries--DO NOT OVERMIX!! Add walnuts.

Pour 1/2 of mixture into a regular loaf pan--greased and floured. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of brown sugar across top of mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 70-80 minutes. Cool in pans 10 minutes.
Makes a very tasty banana bread

@sunflour I made your pimento cheese today. I didn't grate cheese just used shredded sharp cheddar. Came out pretty good! It's super easy. I had to think of what aisle to find the pimentos on, LOL. Okay, what are pimentos...oh, yeah, a pepper, canned veggie aisle. I've never bought any so I have an excuse!

Had a piece of toast slathered with it for supper. Now, to try not to eat much more of it... DH doesn't eat it, but I grew up on it, albeit, the commercial type.

Good job, looks great. I have eaten it as sandwich with bread or dip on crackers…never thought about toast.
Have you ever had a grilled pimento cheese sandwich? Really good, just butter skillet and brown it to warm the filling.

My DH does all the shopping, so I would never know where to find anything….

Pimentos are a great addition to a lot of casseroles, you should try adding. We add them to squash casserole, tuna casserole, and to fried crab cakes. The flavor is mild and the red adds pizazz.

Thanks for the post…sounds great…will save and try.
I use up old bananas with that recipe and a plain banana bread recipe. I slice them and freeze in zip lock bags--they toast up nicely for breakfast.
