Hope the ones you got were really from the farmers and if so, there is quite a difference in the apple skin. This is my 1st year buying farmers market apples, so maybe there'll be a difference this year. I hadn't thought about the yucky wax coating, but that makes a lot of sense.
I never had a problem with the caramel slipping off. I washed and dried the apples. Used the Kraft caramel recipe. And I like them rolled in chopped peanuts. Mmmm.

I'm jealous of all who have already gotten their apples this year, I prefer Cameo's and they are coming in a little late in North GA - but called my source and they should have them next weekendso getting my canner and jars dusted off and ready. And will be making some southern fried apple pies!![]()
We scrubbed the apples, dried them completely, stuck the sticks in and then put them in the fridge. Mom would melt the caramels and then we would dip the cold apples. I do remember wrapping them in wax paper after the dipping and putting them back in the fridge.
What is everyone making for dinner i cant decide what i want to cook tonight. I keep thinking strogenoff but i have no mushrooms so thats out and i am thinking maybe fahietas but i have to make tortillas and all i have are frozen or can tomatoes so thats depressing. But so yeah. Tomorrow i get to go shopping to get grocerys only because i am not sure i am up to going with my toddler by myself.
