I have my tree in a large pot because they don't tolerate frost or a freeze so then I can move it to shelter if we have a frost or freeze possibility. Key lime trees don't get that big so I can move it.

Tried a new cake recipe today. Turned out just a touch on the dry side but overall was pretty tasty.

Two things:
Most cake recipes that use cocoa powder are adapted from recipes that use bakers chocolate. The problem is that they forget to add oil to the recipe to replace the fat lost in not using baking chocolate. You need to ad a couple of tablespoons ish of oil. look for the correct amount. It is based on the original recipes amount of chocolate.
and two, the KFC recipe has a weird cake enhancer in it. Once again, it is likely subbing for oil in the recipe. I would try adding either some oil or more butter to this recipe.
