I have my tree in a large pot because they don't tolerate frost or a freeze so then I can move it to shelter if we have a frost or freeze possibility. Key lime trees don't get that big so I can move it.

I got a Meyer Lemon tree this year and it has a few lemons growing:)

I had thought about a dwarf lime - may look for the Key lime next year.

Do you move yours in and out during the winter or just leave it inside once you move it for the first freeze?

Since I'm in Florida I will move it into the greenhouse if a frost or freeze is expected. It is next to it anyway so if I get caught by surprise I don't think it will freeze. I keep it on the south side. When I get a cold day I close the greenhouse and it gets very warm in it from the sun. Since the cool air comes in from the north the heat dissipates on the south side so it is usually warmer there and I put potted plants that don't like a frost or freeze. I do have frost covers for the garden beds.

I'm jealous again, would love to have a greenhouse...but no idea where I could build it

Tried a new cake recipe today. Turned out just a touch on the dry side but overall was pretty tasty.

Two things:

Most cake recipes that use cocoa powder are adapted from recipes that use bakers chocolate. The problem is that they forget to add oil to the recipe to replace the fat lost in not using baking chocolate. You need to ad a couple of tablespoons ish of oil. look for the correct amount. It is based on the original recipes amount of chocolate.

and two, the KFC recipe has a weird cake enhancer in it. Once again, it is likely subbing for oil in the recipe. I would try adding either some oil or more butter to this recipe.

Next time I make it, I'll add a bit of oil. I didn't use the cake enhancer (don't have any). Another thing I plan to do differently is to use my favorite chocolate frosting instead of the ganache...the ganache was a bit on the skimpy side and I think the sweeter frosting would taste better.

Two things I liked about the recipe, it looks really cool with the coconut filling running through the middle (and is delishious) and the cake definitely did have a Mounds taste to it!
