This is the other chocolate chip recipe that I like. They stay moist longer because of the honey. Of course they don't last long enough to matter.

Chocolate Chip Honey Cookies
Clara Klingensmith

1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 (12 oz.) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup honey
1 egg (well beaten)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Sift flour, salt and baking soda together.

Cream the shortening and gradually add the honey and egg. Beat until light and fluffy.

Add dry ingredients.

Mix in chocolate chips, nuts and vanilla by hand.

Drop on ungreased or parchment lined cookie sheet by heaping teaspoonfuls.

Bake at 375° F. for 12 minutes or until edges turn a golden brown.

Makes 3 dozen.

I make these with the pudding but my recipe calls for real butter. They are nice and soft.

X2 about the dough. I made my moms old sugar cookie recipe this year, and the dough tasted exactly the same as I remember it. I started "helping" mom make them when I could barely see over the counter top. Mom would be cutting out the cookies, and I would reach up and sneak little bits of the dough - oh it was so good! I'm sure mom knew what I was doing, but she would just let me sneak the dough anyway. I really treasure those memories.
