The yogurt tastes okay (as in the way it should). It will be better next time. I not only used 2% (which makes it thinner), but the milk was also getting old. I am not surprised by the result.
I am very happy that the starter wasn’t in bad shape like so many complained about. I am reserving my own starter. Not sure what I’ll do with the three packets in the freezer. Perhaps I will convince my closest sister to give yogurt making a try.

The yogurt will be better next time for sure! It will be thicker too.

you can make it thicker by hanging in cheese cloth. Wait until the yogurt is chilled though

The recipe for sourdough pizza dough that Cultures for Health shares is the same as the recipe I use. I have often said that it’s the best quick dough recipe there is. I’ve tried several. From Robin Hood boxed mix to the recipe on a yeast packet.
Thanks for the tip!

I will check out their sourdough recipe

Duckling didn’t like the yogurt so much. I didn’t add enough fruit (jelly). I tried adding more, but you know little ones. You only get one chance!
I’m hoping she will be in a more adventurous mood next time. I’m going to see if she likes peanut butter in it. Or, I might get her to try Captain Crunch. :D

okay went copied the recipe to word but pre bake the dough????? I have never pre baked my dough?????

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups fresh sourdough starter
  • 4 to 5 Tbsp. olive oil, coconut oil, etc.
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/4 to 1-3/4 cups flour
Instructions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F.
  2. Mix together the fresh sourdough starter, one tablespoon of oil, the salt and 1-1/4 cups of flour. Add more flour, a little at a time, as needed to form a pizza dough consistency. The amount of flour needed will depend on the hydration level of your sourdough starter (the flour-to-water ratios used when feeding the starter).
  3. Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes as it will be easier to roll out. (It won't rise significantly, if at all.) Roll the dough out into a circle using a minimum amount of flour to prevent sticking.
  4. Bake the crust for approximately 7 minutes.
  5. Remove the crust from the oven and brush on the remaining oil to prevent the toppings from soaking into the crust and making it soggy.
  6. Add the desired toppings and bake the pizza until the crust browns and the cheese melts.

It is not necessary.

You pre bake the dough and then wrap it up and freeze for later. One thing it will do is keep the sauce from baking into the dough. You can do the same thing by brushing some olive oil onto the dough before putting the sauce on.
