Any Home Bakers Here?

Here's a question for you all...

While on vacation, we went to a German restaurant for dinner one night. DH got potato dumplings with his meal and they were so good! If anyone here has made them, I'd sure like the recipe (I did find a couple online to maybe try but getting a recipe one of you has made would be even better :)).

Were they big and fluffy dumplings, or were they a small, dense dumplings. My grandma made the small dense dumplings. She said they were called spaetzel - or something like that.

These were the big, round fluffy dumplings. I think spaetzel is different.

eta: This recipe shows what the restaurant ones looked like:

We had a 80th Birthday Party for my Dad on Saturday. DH and I provided pulled pork and German Potato salad. Both were a big hit. There were a lot of guests at the party that commented that they loved it when my mom brought German Potato salad to gatherings. I had 2 kinds of homemade BBQ sauce for the pork also: Cherry Bourban BBQ sauce and The Dana's Original BBQ sauce. I developed the second one from 3 different recipes and tweaked it to our tastes, it was created specifically for the pulled pork recipe we used. I need to make a double batch of each and can it in 1/2 pint jars.

Thanks for the video Bob, interesting!

I don't believe the ones DH had at the restaurant had croutons in the middle (I ate 1/2 of one so think I would have found it) but several of the recipes I saw online had them.

Think I'll try making them without the crouton and see how they turn out. I'll have to wait until my son leaves though...he's kind of picky and doesn't like to try new things. Weird kid, must take after his father :lau

Sounds like a nice get-together...happy b-day to your Dad @wyoDreamer
