Well, how do I cook it?

Just kidding. I have recipes. Seriously, though, I am curious if anyone here has cooked deer before and has recipes they follow.

I don’t follow a recipe per se. I rarely even do a salt bath. I cook it like beef, and everyone says it’s the best they’ve ever had. Roasts, sausage, burger, chili... My husband’s favorite was when I made steak with gravy. Then I’d dredge the steak in flour.

I do the same as BullChick. In addition I do a Crock Pot Stew.
Same as Beef ...with cumin spice added. It is delicious. My
husband has been hunting for years. One year he flew into
a hunting area and got a Moose. That was MORE delicious.
Cook...the same as you would cook Beef. Aria

Thanks for the input. I'll have to try a crock pot stew or a roast as you guys suggested.

Here in South Idaho it is deer season, and that was the deer I got today. Now, I have to wait one year in order to get another one.

Tomorrow, I'm submitting my Hunter's report to Idaho Fish and Game.

I did do the Salisbury steak with potatoes but did green beans no beets as I got roped into most alone and no photos

Forgot to mention one thing.

In case anyone is wondering, yes, that is me in the photograph with the deer. My hunting partner took the photograph.

I finished taking all the meat off of the bones, and now I'm going to browse recipes.

I made a wonderful hash out of the heart and the liver was fabulous. I also like to cook steaks in butter since they are so lean. Adding a little fat is a wonderful thing.
