That reminds me, I found this in my photos yesterday. You can recycle your celery. :thumbsup It took about a week for that to emerge.

I always had a hard time keeping celery because I seldom use it. I ended up having to buy celery every time I was going to use it in a dish.

Thanks to Alton Brown and the Good Eats show, my celery keeps fine for months at a time. You cut the top off of an empty 2 liter pop bottle, place some water in the bottom, stand the celery bunch in the water and put a plastic bag over the top. Put the bottle of celery in the refrigerator and use as needed. If you use celery like I do, by the time you get to the middle and last few stalks, the celery will have sprouted roots. I have potted the rooted left overs and been able to have fresh celery all summer.

It never lasts long for me either, gets all 'whippy', limp before i get to using it all.
Have tried putting it in 2lb. tall container with a little water in the bottom, cut into sticks, lid on & kept in the fridge.
It stayed so-so, it was better left whole and used as needed.
Will have to try the "Alton Brown" way.:) Thanks for the info!

i remember that!

Put the bunch in whole. Because I use it so seldom, I have to trim the upper ends from time to time. The plastic bag is set over the container loosely. It does get new leafy growth as time passes. If you leave it alone for too long it does degrade in quality but holds up really well for a couple of months. I have used it after six months but do not recommend keeping it that long.

Wow..6 months!
When it's canning time, sauces, soups etc..that's when we really go through it, but all other days, not so much. The only one who really eats it is our granddaughter, she likes "ants on a log", only with cranberries instead of raisins;).
I am definitely going to be giving this a try next time we get celery. don't even have any in the fridge right now..hahaha
Have some broccoli though:D
I’m just remembering when life was better.
Can;t wait to get my fingers dirty, get some things growing. That helps make me remember "better":D
