Any Home Bakers Here?

Nothing else fancy. Once I get back into the groove of bread baking I'll see what I can come up with.

Today we had some fun with yeast (outdated yeast...). I made a sponge last night and then turned that into a loaf of bread and a stack of pancakes this morning. The bread was slightly under baked in my opinion but I had to leave and DW doesn't ever bake bread so she just took it out at 35 minutes like I said. It's still good though. I used King Arthur Flour's recipe for a sandwich loaf. Is a little on the salty side, but that makes it great by itself or with butter. DS approves.

The pancakes were a first for me. I've never made yeast pancakes. I always use baking powder (which my mother managed to grab for me and dropped it off today with a few other things). The pancakes were tasty though. I didn't use a recipe for them. I just decided to wing it.

That's one buttery happy little kid!

I like to make yeast pancakes, they're delicious (especially if you drop some blueberries in them and drizzle real maple syrup all over) :D

I made cornbread muffins tonight. They were yummy.

You missed the lactobacillus!

This is one way.

Another is to use unpasteurised milk or plain yogurt. The first starter that I had was started with plain yogurt.

You might be able to get the lactobacillus in by adding some plain yogurt though...Or get a start from me. I have some dried starter ready to mail to you.

@ronott1, I went through the recipe index and found this. I'm going to try it out.

I failed to tell you many months ago that the sourdough starter you sent me actually died. It's been pretty hectic with a lot of things going on, and I basically forgot to take care of it.

It was an honest mistake.

I'm going to try making my own this time.

That is good fun!

Let us know how it goes

Didn't know that. Well, at least I know now for the future.
What BC said it True about sourdough. It is amazing stuff. I read an article that claimed that someone started sourdough from an egyptian fire pit! and it activated. It was dormant for thousands of years
