Speaking of appointments, my nose surgery date was set up. I plan to not bake that week.

Turns out I am going to have nose surgery in July also. 5-10 days off work, 10 days limited to 10 pounds max lifting and no bending over.

The question of soggy bottom pie crust came up on Milk Street Radio a few months back. The key is to have the pie on the rack at the lowest position in the oven. That way the bottom gets more heat. I asked if that was also true for ovens like mine that have only a top heating element and the answer was "yes".Crust is a little soggy on the bottom but the top was nice.
The pie was still pretty warm when we cut into it but I love a bleeding berry pie! The ice cream melts into it making the most lovely creamy sauce. Lol! I admit I took the berries out of the freezer and they were only partially thawed. So they weren’t drained well at all. Could be part of the problem with the soggy crust. I don’t know but it was delicious all the same. I’ll try another one and drain them better, then use @bruceha2000 ’s tip and bake it lower in the oven. Recipe called for both flour and tapioca.I use cornstarch not flour to make fruit pies does better for me to not have runny, soupy pies

Bosch true convection wall oven. It is nice not having a bottom element, I have a huge insulated baking sheet that catches most of the stuff that would normally get burned onto the bottom of the oven.Wait, your oven only has a top element??? Is this a thing or did something happen to the bottom one?
