First try at 7 grain bread. I wanted it to be a softer bread so I us my white bread recipe and changed it up. I’m happy how it turned out, the wife is but she’s made at me because she is on a die! My white bread recipe calls for 9 cups of APflour.
I used 8 cups APFLOUR, 2 cups 7 grain cereal. 4 1/2 spoons t yeast with 1 T spoon brown sugar and 1 cup of warm water 105-115F. I dissolved 1 1/2 T spoons of shortening 1t spoon salt and 1/4 cup of molasses in 1 1/2 cups of boiling water once everything dissolved I added 2 (1 1/2 for white bread)cups of cold water and the yeast I proffed earlier. I started adding flour to make my slurry, while still very wet I added the 7 grain. Continued adding flour adding 1/2 cup of raisins while the dough was still very sticky. Added flour until it could be handled kneaded for 10 minute, raised the dough until double about 50 minutes formed into loaves raised again. Made an egg wash applied to the bread 5 minutes before putting it in the oven, sprinkled 7 grains on the top. Baked at 375 for 50 minute.
The bread turned out moist, soft not too sweet with a bit of crunch. Next time I might soak the cereal a bit just to soften it.

They all look very good

Anyone have a good recipe for homemade alfredo sauce? I've been using store-bought/pre-made for years and I'm pretty fed up with the bland taste. A recipe proven and used (even a link) would be super helpful and I am much appreciative!
I think the one Bob posted should be good. I've not found any commercial alfredo sauce that is anything but nearly water consistency. There is a small company south of here that made a very good one (gee, they use heavy cream vs skim milk, what a surprise) but it was only at the healthy food store 25 miles south of me and they stopped carrying it.

Okay all I got a reply to email but it was her Daughter in law ..
Floyd passed on the 26th she fell broke her hip only got home today
Oh my. Floyd's passing isn't a huge shock but then she broke her hip? If you send a return email please let her know that many here at BYC are thinking of her. Hopefully she can get back on the forum if for no reason other than moral support for her suffering.
