Any home remedies for Flu (human flu not chicken)

Stomach buffering:
Lightly buttered and lightly salted popcorn.

Antivrals:
Elderberry, if you are sure it is not covid.
Tart cherry... just a few as a dose.

Fluids and heat/soothing for sinuses and throat:
Lemon tea with honey

Fluids, heat/soothing, and electrolytes:
Chicken noodle soup. But not at the same time as the popcorn.

All these are handed down by generations of my family. So is Elderberry or An apple a day and regular sleep as preventatives.

Hope you feel better soon
Oh thank you! The only one I have tried is the lemon with honey. I’ll put a list together for DH to go and get these things :) I’ll keep you posted! I’ve have just done a covid test and it is negative 🙏 thank god. It is going to be a lonnnggg day in the office today 🤧🤒

So I am currently sitting on my sofa, wrapped in a blanket, feeling sorry for myself, sneezing/coughing, feeling absolutely crap (it was bearable while I have been busy, but now I’ve sat down…) anyone have any home remedies that work or that have been passed down through the generations?

I had an old aunt once who swore by using egg white on nappy rash, apparently it worked. Although don’t try this at home!! 🤦‍♀️ I have no idea wether it worked or not, I’m just using it as an example.
Maybe your should try some chicken soup 🍲 😋 I use my recipe for me n incase you have cold n cough..you should gargle with a pinch of salt n baking soda in water. And get better soon 💖

Aww bless you! Would you like to give me a few tips on the chicken soup you make? My DH decided decided he would take on the role as cook after he tasted my food 🤦‍♀️😂

Saute onion, celery, carrots, garlic (if you don't make your own broth with these in it)
Add to chicken broth
Add pasta (precooked or not)
Add seasoning... salt if your broth doesn't have any, black pepper, parsley, maybe others... red pepper flakes, turmeric, ginger - for medicinal reasons more than taste so be a bit cautious with them.
Simmer until you like it. Or longer.

It really is that simple. Proportions of any of it don't matter much other than don't make it too thick. The only thing really essential is the broth although the other things have some medicinal value too. So make it even if you don't have some of the ingredients.

If you make your own broth: roast a chicken, remove most of the meat, simmer all the rest in water to cover it. Actually, I sometimes remove the skin too. Add any/all: onions, carrots, celery, garlic, salt, black pepper, parsley, red pepper flakes, maybe other spices. Amounts of the optional things don't matter much although if you put too much in, it may become vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. Simmer for many hours.

Fyi, the capsaicin in hot peppers is better than commercial meds for clearing the upper respiratory parts and helping with coughing. This because it works well and gently - working with and supporting your immune system more than so than many of the commercial formulas do. That isn't handed down by family though, so I forgot it. My parents and grandparents didn't like spicy food.

Thank you so much :hugs also I have been using the commercial stuff, it hasn’t even touched it, so I’m really looking forward to trying this tonight for dinner and hopefully having a good sleep!

Haha aww sure..
First take pan add some oil n some cumin seeds, cinnamon stick(you can also add it in power form) black pepper n let it split for some second then add chopped onions, garlic and ginger with chicken ( you can also add veggies of your choice with noodles also) and add some soup masala with water according to the quantity n let it boil for some time then have it :)) tadaa
You can also try drinking hot chocolate it also helps n having some ginger tea as well with honey 🍯
