Any Hope for this ex-battery ? Bad vent gleet GRAPHIC

Thank you @Wyorp Rock I like that idea, I was using the blunt end of the tweezers and I got more out, but there is still some in there, around 2.5 inches in. She's not good.
:hugs I'm hoping you can get that out and she will be able to eliminate what's in there.
I too would worry that she's got lash material in there or possibly an impacted oviduct, but only time will tell.
You are doing good, it must be heartbreaking to see her like this, but you are doing all you can for her.

I haven't had an adult chicken for 22 years, so I can't really remember the dimensions on them. Could you possibly use a small warm spoon to scoop out the rest of the stuff that is stuck up inside the vent? One of those rubber coated ones that is made for babies. And sorry if this is a horrible idea. Experts, please feel free to tell me why this is an awful idea. The head of a spoon is probably way too big to fit in a vent, but I'm just brainstorming.
If there's still really hard stuff stuck on the outside you could use a toothbrush dipped in hot water to brush at it and try to break it up.

P.S. I really admire you for trying to save these poor girls, OP. The conditions they live in are nightmare level, and having even one day away from all that is a blessing. Even if she she doesn't make it, at least she didn't have to die in that squalor.

Thanks to everyone for your imput. Unfortunately she passed yesterday. I feel horrible I couldn't save her. I know you can't save them all, doesn't stop you from wanting to though. Thankfully the other 13 that came with her are doing well.
It became obvious she gave up, so we sat out in the rare sunshine watching the other chickens until she passed. Poor thing never lived.

I am so sorry. I was hopeful that all that you were doing would help but time wasn't on your side. It is horrible losing one - I am going through one at the moment, a little different in that it is ups and downs but it is becoming more downs than ups. Just got back from the vet in fact.

You did a sterling job and staying with her as she went was a lovely thing to do, because I am sure she would have felt some comfort in that. I really am very sorry. You clearly care deeply about your girls. They are lucky to have you.
