Any Jewish Poultry Keepers?

I have heard that some people don’t consider the Silkie to be kosher because they have 5 toes and dark skin. I think that nowadays some people would consider any chicken that isn’t the Cornish cross to be non kosher, because they are so accustomed to white skinned birds. I’ve eaten Silkie and Silkie mix chickens, they taste like the other chickens I’ve raised for meat.
Like I said above, there are many different שיטות and מנהגים in this area, and each person should make their own consultations.

Mrs. Light Sussex?!
I see your profile lists your gender as male- which one is correct? The name or the profile?
As you probably know, these days the מנהג is not to have נשים doing שחיטה.

I am a 36 year old male. My Light Sussex chicken caused me a bit of a gender identity crisis hence my nickname, I bought 5 or 6 straight-run chicks and all turned out to be female. I was kvelling for a male, in the end I bought 3 hens and 2 majestic roosters to add to the light sussex flock.
