Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

You guys, my two girls are at 20 weeks this week and still nothing!

I went outside to have a discussion with them about the lack of eggs but all they did was dig a hole in the dirt and have a dust bath to show me how much they didn't care.

I would like to join in to,i have a Rhode Island Red hen that was born in oct.or nov. and she still hasnt started laying yet, dont know the reason but i am waiting paitently for her to start.
We got our RIR the beginning of Oct and she is our best layer. Largest brown egg and she is the smallest of our three birds. Hang in there it is worth the wait.

My last EE to lay is working hard but no egg. She was in the nesting box for 3 hours today...still nothing. She even made two nest in 1 box. One on each side. I feel bad for her..i want to help her along! LOL

We got our EE the same time we got our RIR and the EE is about 2 weeks older. She sits on that darn nest box every day (just to get our hopes up) and we are lucky if we get one egg a week from her. I am chalking it up to her being a late bloomer. She is our biggest chicken and lays the smallest little green egg. Pretty funny.

Sometimes bringing the cook book out when you are having "the talk" gives them motivation.

. Ours were definitely over 20 weeks when they started. But not too much longer I am sure.

Apparently you follow up a 7/7 egg day with a 4/7 egg day.

Oh well they laid eggs and that's what matters.

I forgot to post April's egg total-128 eggs. Last April I got 52 eggs from my 5 girls. I don't think the 2 Wellies laid 76 eggs this month. So I know my SS girls stepped up their laying, Proving there is still a lot of laying life after molt.

My oldest are only about 9 weeks right now, but I would love to live vicariously through you all while I am waiting. I actually have two that are laying already but I bought them full grown so didn't have the same thrill over waiting for my babies to get big enough to lay. I have between 4-7 leghorn hens (not sure on all the genders just know I have at least 3/10 boys), and 5 RIR. I also have 10 various breed 4 week old pullets.

Wow, nice variety there Ariekannairb, Sure you can live through us, we are all at different stages and some of us who have egg layers, also have babies that are younger than yours or the same age. How about some pictures of the little ones? We love pictures!

Nikki,

That is a great April Egg count! So happy to hear about the laying after molt thing I don't know what I am going to do when the eggs stop... going to miss the eggs soo much!

I had a full egg count today,, 9 or 9. Before Matilda died, I had at least 5 or 6, 10 egg days... Loved almost filling an egg carton a day!

Still trying to catch up from being gone so long :( WOW! It never ends LOL! I have our egg count from April finally, 151 eggs. Can't wait to see this months, they're so far 8 for 8! Hope all is well with everyone!

Hows this for action? LOL Love the trail cam :)

The next to last one just cracked me up. The chicken under is sound asleep with it's head under the others butt. You would think that would be totally uncomfortable, but as you can tell by the way she is stretched out she was quite ok with being there LOL.
