Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

This is my shy Buff Orpington in October. She is pale and not much going on in the way of comb or wattles. I will use the October pictures on my five girls as the starting point and I will post November pictures to compare the changes as they mature.

This is Daffodill in November for comparison. I do not see much change.

Jasmine In October above compared to November below. I see a good bit of difference in the last month. Jamsine is filling out and her comb and wattles and beginning to grow.

I apologize for taking up so much of the thread with my pictures, but I really don't know a lot about chickens and am hoping that others will let me know if they see signs that they are developing on track and that I will be able to compare their developement to others close in age. They were all hatched Aug 1, 2012. Thanks for starting the waiting thread Melabella.

Finishing up in the barn, and then I am going to post pics I took today. It was difficult... no one would stand still. LOVE seeing everyones pictures. So happy to have BYC friends to wait with.

THanks guys!

I like the idea of posting pictures so we can better see the changes they make through the months

Ok,,, here we go, I will introduce you to my girls, and also my one Roo Duke.

Here is my Suprise Cockrel, Duke. So far he is quiet, polite, and respectful. I know he is very young but he only crows a few times in the morning than that is it.

His breed partner is my Columbian Wyandotte girl I named Daisy. Her comb is still pale, and not much has grown. I think of all my girls she is the farthest away from POL

All my chickens hatched July 23rd. They are in their 16th week.

I have 2 each of the remaining breeds.
Next my Barred Rocks

This is Betta and Kate. Betta is in the back, Kate up front.
This is a close up of Betta She has a bit larger comb started, and everything is a bit redder than Kate

Below is Kate

Kate close up. Not as much of a comb as Betta. She is thanking me for her spaghetti squash.

On to my Black Australorps, Dahlia and Adele
This is a close up of Dahla

Just like the barred rocks... one of them has started to grow her comb and waddles, with new redness, the other not as much.

Here is Adele

Next are my Golden Buffs (my red sex links), Sadie and Matilda
I think they are both growing at about the same rate. I am figuring that they will be my first layers...perhaps?
Close up of Matilda

Here is Sadie

And last but not least are my two RIR, Charlotte and Rose,
Charlotte

and I just realized, that I forgot to get one of Rose,,,,poor rose... I will get her tomorrow!

Will keep pictures updated as I notice changes. So far,, I haven't noticed any mating by Duke, and no squatting....no remote signs of egg song singing. So,, were in it for the long haul everyone!

Thanks all!

Beautiful girls and Duke is quite handsome. I do have one question. Will they still squat if I don't have a roo?

Nova,,, don't apologize for pictures.... they are lovely, and I am so happy you joined along! I can't wait to see how our respective girl groups do! We are only 11 days apart from hatch day. Will be so interesting to see how it goes. Where abouts are you from? I am in New York. I am hoping we don't get too much snow this year, as it'll be a cold walk out to their coop if there is!

To answer your last question,,remembering I am a newbie as well, from what I have read on here... yes,, the girls will exhibit squatting even in there is no roo around. Heck, maybe more without a roo! They have to show submissiong to someone!

lol...
Thanks again!

They will squat if you put your hand over them!!! only when they are really close to laying!!!! I hate when they do this though, they almost look like they are cowering down.

Oh and Melabella, You have some gorgeous girls!!!!! and boy

some of your girls are getting red which is a good sign!!!! when they start getting really red, bigger combs and wattles they will be really close to laying. The egg squat I think is one of the best ways to tell though.
