Hello all! Just wondering if there are any other Catholics (Roman rite, Byzantine rite, Latin, etc) on BYC. There has to be a few, seeing as there are 90,000+ people on now.

Note: If you are coming on here to comment on any offense you may have with the Catholic Church, please just go away, or people will get mad, mean, and stupid and the mods will close this thread. Much appreciated!
If you are looking for info on the Catholic faith, here are a few websites:

I'm Catholic. I was raised in the faith from birth and been a practicing Caltholic all my life. We just had our 4th baby baptised.

I love the tradition of my faith and the history of it. I know a lot of people have problems with the teachings, but nothing else would feel right for me.

It is everyones own choice of course. Could YOU please explain the process of lighting a candle for someone? For some reason, everyone I ask just blows me off!!! I REALLY like knowing the traditions and practices of other branches of Christianity and well as other faiths.

I'm Catholic and the idea of lighting a candle is that your prayers for whatever the situation continues while it burns- but then you got me wondering, so i had to go do a search...
Lighting a candle is a way of extending one's prayer and showing solidarity with the person on whose behalf the prayer is offered.

that from this site: http://acatholiclife.blogspot.com/2006/03/why-do-catholics-light-prayer-candles.html

apparently
the lighting of candles goes clear back to the catacombs....

For me, it's just a beautiful tradition to remember a loved one. Here's a good link about it:

Thank you Belle. That really is a beautiful tradition. Now I need to do more research.
