I currently have 3 duck hens and 11 chicken hens no drakes or roosters
One of my female ducks who’s bigger then the other 2 will mount and try and mate with them I’ve also seen her favor one of my chickens I know this is normal for no drake in the flock but I’m a little worried she might hurt the other hens or one of the chickens she’s a Rouen by the way so big and heavy breed my other ducks are Muscovy (not technically ducks)
anyone have any idea as to keep her from trying to mate with my other birds
I’m a new duck mom so I might just be worried about nothing

in the past two weeks, I have seen three ducks stacked, two ducks stacked, and even a drake sandwiched between two ducks. This evening I saw my Rouen duck on top of our large Pekin duck in the pool while their drake just watched. The Rouen has been trying to take over as top duck from our K/C. It’s not always due to hormones, sometimes it’s establishing the pecking order.

Dagwood sandwich. Duckwood sandwich lol. I guess that would require several different kinds of ducks in triplicate or more?😆
Its bothersome at first but you get used to it. Sex doesn’t seem to matter. Dominance seems to be the main factor. Most of my girls will flatten out like a pancake when they are wanting to fool around. I had 16 ducks and one drake, I rescued two additional drakes from the butcher thinking the gals needed a few more boys in the mix but they still like to play girl on girl it seems. I tried!

My son has feral rooster who has taken to hanging round his garden. At first, I thought it was because there is dug food around but no! It's because his smallest female lets him mount her first thing every morning. She actively encouraged him from the start -- the other ducks are frightened of him and run away shouting loudly when he is near.
