He has ADHD and takes meds to sleep as well but we are in a period of "change" and he is also intellectually challenged. But he did get a bath and get to bed early. Have you ever seen a 5 year old scale the front of a washer and stand there going thru cupboards above? Hes a challenge.

The best thing to do is unplug dryer and pull it out and take off back to check for foreign objects most are easy to take off. I just had to change the heating coil on mine. Maybe it would be safer to put some hasp and lock on a few things to make things safer. you could use short metal screws to attach the hasp to front of dryer door and freeze to keep the door from being opened unless you want them to be.

We have lots of locks too. I finally went to Lowes and bought new KEYED door locks for the hall closets, master bedroom, the laundry room/garage, DH's study and the pantry. I wear a string of keys around my neck that comes off after they go to bed and hangs on a hook just inside the bedroom door. (Most of the doors are keyed alike except DH's study). This really cut down on kids getting into stuff while my back was turned. At one point I even considered putting locks on the bathroom doors...that was after $2000 worth of damage to the floors due to intentional flooding. I about lost my mind during those months, but things are so much better and with a little age they have gotten more responsible and responsive to direction. The littlest one just hates sitting in a chair.

It is almost a penalty worse than death. We also installed magnitized door and drawer locks on some of the drawere and cabinets in the kitchen (where medicines, knives and paint were stored). We also have an alarm system whose chief benefit is that a chime sounds anytime a window or door is opened. I used to think alarm systems were kinda over the top, but now I wouldn't be without one just for this reason alone--it helps me know what is going on in my home. I hope things calm down at your house and that you can get the dryer straightened out. In the meantime, can I recommend a trip to Lowes?
