DH is umemployed due to seasonal work and we are living on $320,...but he maybe going to work driving a coal truck in VA for the winter,...much better money than unemployment. The only downfall is the drive,..two hours one way. He hasn't made up his mind. The sad part is we know the truck boss pretty well and they are having a hard time filling his new coal trucks with drivers,....It seems like there is plenty of work here, but nobody wants to work. My neighbor couldn't even hire anyone to help fence in his property,.....sad I think.

Hey, maybe I won't have to move into a cave! We could just move to WV instead!!! Seems there are plenty of jobs there. There really is nothing here. DH may have to take something out of town again...IF he can even find that

There's a lot of jobs I would love to do, but most of them involve training, sometimes several months worth. Unemployment can be difficult to deal with if you say you're going to school. For one, they stop your checks until they can interview you. Our state is in a financial crisis and the EDD is understaffed, so it could be a month before your checks start coming again.

Also, I have a huge student loan and most of the EDD approved training courses are expensive. I am not a young person and I will be paying my student loan out until I am almost retired. I don't want to add any more to it. I'm trying to find a job, first, where I can maybe get trained on the job or make enough money to pay cash for extra training.

ETA: Also, just because you get trained in a job doesn't mean that there will be jobs available after your training. I went to graduate school to study city planning and when I was almost done, there were no jobs available in that field.

It is the wrong time of year for constuction for sure. My DH drives dumptruck, but he hauls asphalt, so he only works during good weather. Luckily we are always prepared for the layoff.

how stupid.....DH would LOVE to have those jobs! Sucks we really can't move though...I sure would in a heartbeat. Doubt this house would sell though.
