Anybody setting eggs this weekend? (4-25-15)

Ruby, I was just looking through the list of current hatch-a-longs, and matlock585 has started a hatch-a-long with eggs set on 5-13-15, so I will probably tag along on that thread for my next batch. Of course we could just be brazen and start our own hatch-a-long, if you do up the starting page with lots of FAQs and pointers...;-]
I'm on that one!! LOL! You have to join!! :)

It's 3:21 am here and I just finished assisting the last two hopefuls out of their shells. Both are very tired. So far I have four live hatches and two that pipped and died. I still have 18 eggs in there three of which I'm sure were quitters about 5 days ago. After setting them upside down for the first 14 days I'm pretty happy to get any survivors.
So nerve-wrecking! I'm so happy they made it! Maybe give them a little electrolyte in their water? This last hatch I kept checking for any pips on the wrong end, it's my worst fear! ;) Get some sleep now!

You did all that in the dark? Gratz!!

@ Bug I caved and turned the lights on :p. Today is day 23 and I still have about 8 eggs in the bator. How long should i wait? I don't want to rush it cause yesterday I accidentally killed on trying to assist too soon. However they all are mal positioned so I don't know what to do.

That's great! Do ducks and geese take longer than chickens to hatch?
I would love to have ducks some day, but I think I would need a separate coop for them and that's just not in the cards right now.
Well my eggs showed up yesterday afternoon and my broody happily tucked them underneath herself, it was so cute! So hopefully May 15th will be the day!

I would definitely get a separate coop for them. They aren't as clean as ducks but they are alot of fun. My khaki campbells lay better than any of my chickens.i have even have had them lay more than once in a day. They are also lots of fun to watch. They love to splash and dive! Ducks are just so much fun.

Well, day 23 is the day to try. Good luck, and be patient.

Long story, but I ended up with 3 orphaned baby ducks last night! Never a dull moment. Also my shipped eggs arrived this morning. Some air cells look great others are wobbling...can't wait to start the new batch...I bought a little scale for this round!
