Anybody setting eggs this weekend? (4-25-15)

I'm kinda bummed out, guys. I'm incubating 7 shipped silkie eggs. Today is day 7 & I candled. 2 look totally clear, 2 have a red ring & black floating dot (near the air cell). 3 have moving babies in them!!! That's beyond exciting! But of the 3, one has a whacked out air cell that dips down half the egg. So I'm looking at only 2 that are in really good condition. I knew shipped eggs were risky but I'm worrying that none of them are gonna actually make it out healthy & hatch. Or I'll get only 1, which won't be good for the chick. You guys have to let me know how your air cells look when you candle!
I'll let you know candle stats monday, I have shipped eggs too.

tomorrow. I'm totally with you! All eBay eggs.
I want to do BCM right after this incubation. Those eggs look nice & dark. Can you tell me the eBay user you purchased from? Were they packed well & how were the air cells upon arrival? I'm dying to see how they turn out! Good luck!

to be honest I have no idea. My buddy lent me his. Its the styrofoam one. It has the little thing you turn for heat adjustment. Also using an auto turner. I'll snap a pic in a second.
A little Giant? I have the digital kind that is a still air.. I had a little giant that I returned because it was a forced air... I think it dried out my eggs... I know you have to keep moisture up it blows air right down and that seems unnatural..maybe my inexperience didnt help but I returned to the still air kind... Prior to my purchase I had borrowed the older knob temp adjustment... Worked just fine once you get it adjusted over a 12 hr time period... Good luck!!!

Yes! survivalseedsowers is the seller. It's really difficult to candle the super dark eggs, but the air cells seem fine, one maybe a little jagged. This is my second purchase from that seller, the first one was 8 Salmon Faverolle eggs, and 7/8 hatched! I'm pretty sure that's my record for shipped eggs, which is why I decided to buy from her again. I also have some really dark Splash Maran Eggs that I got from eajohn84. They seem to be developing well, but again, it's hard to see. I'll include pics from my incubator.

The darkest ones in this pic are from the Splash Marans, bordered by Barnevelder and Gold Copper Marans: Splash are due 5/5.
Then these are the Black Copper Marans, really excellent coloring due 5/16.

Yes, the coloring is excellent! I've been reading up on them and sometimes even with birds breed well it's hard to get that dark egg color. I'm also glad to hear about your last hatch! 7/8 is awesome for shipped eggs!! I'm debating if I should try to find a local seller to avoid the shipping or to go ahead and order online. It is so much easier to order online. But harder on the eggs. Thank you for the info. I may go that route! :) can't wait to see pics of your hatches!

I have to say..... 3 days into this incubation with chicken eggs and I'm so excited! My last hatch was for Muscovy duck eggs and they take 35 days. THIRTY FIVE DAYS!
I only have 18 more days to wait for chicks, and that feels like a walk in the park. LOL
