The only correction regarding the "blue gene" discussion is that Splash x Blue yields splash or blue offspring (rather than all blue).
Splash chicks can look almost completely white, silvery, or off-white; but as they mature they sometimes get some flecks of other colors (mostly black, it seems) in odd places.
Punnet Square percentages:
Splash x Splash = 100% Splash
Splash x Blue = 50% Splash, 50% Blue
Splash x Black = 100% Blue
Blue x Blue = 25% Splash, 50% Blue, 25% Black
Blue x Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Black x Black = 100% Black
Keep in mind, it is possible to get different shades of blue. Some breeders believe that the blue offspring from a cross between two blue parents is "better quality" than a blue resulting from a splash x black cross.
This conversation only refers to "Andalusian blue" genetics, not "true blue" color traits.
