Anyone "DUE" the 11th? (lol) CANDLING PICS ADDED PG 2

day 5 for me! I get to candle in 6 days

Results are in!!!!!!

Day 7 candling. The first 3 are shipped eggs.

11/13 australorps developing normal (N). two clears out. 85% good.

5/7 Buff Orps N . one clear out. one suspected bacterial out. 71% good.

8/9 Cuckoo Marans N. one blood ring out. cracked open the egg, there was a tiny embryo. 89% good.

8/11 store bought fertile eggs N . three clears out. 72% good.


I had soooo much fun candling them. I could see movement in almost all viable eggs, without taking more than a few seconds to look at each. I used a small maglight and shined it through the top of the eggs (through the air sac).

I took the eggs out of the bator one by one to candle. I kept the eggs upright at all times and moved the flashright around the eggs instead of moving the egg. I wore gloves too.

It was a lot of fun and well worth it. For those of you that have never candled I would recommend it.

Hey all!
I'm bringing my thread back from oblivion with an update!
I'm in class right now, but I'll put candling pics on here later.
I had 23 in the incubator and I candled last night
2 blood rings
4 Blanks (not fertile)
Soo, I have 15 left that are doing well and kicking
Oh, I should mention today is day 11

Anyone else have some updates??

I have 4 cortounix quail due on the 11th( myDD's 7th bday too). I could see a chick in 1 the others I couldn't tell. My 1st time hatching.

Oh, I would like to see your candling pics. I can imagine what mine look like on day 11 instead of bothering them

I'm candling again on day 14, thursday, I will do an update then.

I have 8 Green EE eggs from KellyHM hatching on the 11th and a couple of my duck eggs.

Good candling job..what kind of turner you got in your Bator or what kind bator too??It is different that what I have seen for turners.
