Anyone Else as Stubborn or Cheap as Me?

I dunno. I think the restaurant should charge *something* for hot water because they have the energy bill to both heat the water and wash the cup our afterward, so the whole $2.00 doesn't go just for the teabag.

Like everyone else here, we keep our thermostat lower than anyone else we know. Our energy company has a conservation rate that you have to requalify for every year. If, in each of the months of June, July and August, you keep your energy usage below are certain amount, you get to be on the conservation rate through the end of August the following year. That is a big incentive to keep our house pretty warm in the summer, but we also keep it pretty cool in the winter. Hey - has anyone noticed that 75 in the summer and you are cold, but 75 in the winter and you're sweating?

Our energy company also gave anyone who wanted one a free programmable thermostat. This allows us to preset the temps we want at night, day and on weekends. We can even log in from any computer and change the setting. So if we were to go away for a weekend, and forgot to set it, we could login from another computer and tell the thermostat not to bother heating while we are away. Pretty cool.

That's pretty cool! I can't wait to get my bill and see how well I did last month!

I guess I look at it like ordering water. Water is free. I guess it would be the same as them having to pay something for the energy bill to freeze the cubes that they fill with water. But water is still freeze. And they have to wash the water glasses out afterwards as well.

I've been collecting rose hips because I know I need the Vit C since I'm sick all the time. Hubby tells me to just buy the vitamins! But it's thrifty this way!

And that way you know it is all natural and pesticide free if you don't use chemicals. We make dandelion salad around here. Not because we are cheap but because it is healthy too.

I reuse Dunkin' Donut coffee cups again and again and again and --------------. The Princess says that I am cheap. I think that I am frugal.

Vfem, turn that heat up and maybe you won't be ill.

kuntry girl, I've done that when the coffee shop didn't have any herbal tea - and I had my favorite in my bag. I didn't care if they charged me for hot water and such, but they didn't. Nice of them.

Mamagardener, just what did I do wrong? Those dandelion greens were soooo nasty, the one bite killed tastebuds for an hour. I've just put the roasted root on to simmer for the coffee substitute.

edited to add: Not bad for something I just dug up out of my yard. Am brewing up some nice mint tea to chase the bitter aftertaste; it did smell nice, drinkable.

I would ask for a cup of hot water with my own Twinings tea...hate the restuaraunts cheapo brand of tea...bleck! I don't care if they charge me but usually they would include it with the meal. Water is always free.

Maybe they should charge $1.00 for their time to wash, or use their ice, or energy for our teas.
