anyone else hatching may 1st

Yup, thanks. I already put the pine shavings in the brooder. Hubby was worried they would eat the shavings so I left them out for 24 hours. One is showing an issue with it's legs but it is not bad at all so I think it will correct itself.

I do have one that is still in the incubator with severe splayed legs. It was late to hatch and looks like it is greased because of all the egg stuff left on him....

I put the bandaid splint on him this morning, he seems to be doing better but he still will not get up off of his belly. I don't have the heart to euthanize him since he has been such a fighter! I am going to be picking up the vitamins for him tomorrow (if he is still with us by then). I was hoping he would be doing much better since he is not eating yet.......

Oh Im sorry, about the little one.
I was told my a chicken lady to put alfalfa pellets in first for them to walk on and so far I love it. Becasue when they are trying to eat it I know it wont hurt them and it keeps the smell down too. Than the best part is I put it in my garden and flowerbeds. Its great for plants.

Update. We had 10 wellsummer chicks hatch over the weekend out of 15 viable eggs. One died last night so we have 9 bouncing fuzzies!

Still have 5 eggs in the bator that were set on April 11. Should I leave them in there until tommorrow night?

I had good intentions of updating this sooner but who'd of thunk it on how busy 6 new baby chicks would keep someone??

Momma hen was so proud - she hatched 6 out of 6 eggs!! They're all so stinking cute it's not funny. Here they are:
