I think they are bronze, but will have to wait and see. lol
I should have paid more attention to what the guy I got them from was saying instead of loving on the babies.

I got 24 turkeys due on the 13 th
I set two dozen mutt chicken eggs for my own layers. And I have 18 chicks, 2 peeping so maybe four won't hatch. But these were my first try at hatching. And most of the rules were walked on. The egg turner dumped several twice. Then stopped working while I was gone for two days. Hubby was baby setting and figured it out.
So, I am really happy with the hatch so far.
\\Wow only twice not hatched

I am hatching on the 2nd of June, but I would love to have some hatching buddies!! I have never hatched turkey eggs, so this will be an experience! I have 9 naragansett turkey eggs from ninjapoodles in the bator. Hope I get a couple babies from these eggs!

Thanks!! I surely need a lot of luck, I have a reputation of killing most things that go into my bators!

Hi all! I'm new at this.... I have never raised turkeys or chickens or anything in my life before. I live in the city, and a Narragansett Turkey was hanging around our bird feeders in the backyard about a month ago, then we didn't see her at all, until one day when I was in the front yard getting ready to decorate with a birthday banner outside for my son's bday party. I saw it in the bushes in the front yard and my first thought was that it is dead. My aunt saw it and said it wasn't dead. She lives on a lake and they see a lot of wild turkeys on their land. She said it was NOT a wild turkey.

My 6-year-old son named her "Star" because he said that if she could fly, he thought she'd fly to the stars. (awwwwwww)

We talked with the neighbors later (townhomes) and they said they saw it and said that she's sitting on eggs! So, I got on the WWW and started searching and we called the DNR and such to find out about wild turkeys, because that's what we thought it was at first! All the pictures on the sites I was at showed that it was a Narragansett Turkey. When I called the DNR, they said it is not a bird that is even native to Minnesota, so we could do with it what we wanted. (the concern with wild turkeys in MN is that they are a protected species)

Well, the neighbors wanted to get rid of it because they thought it was pecking at their cars. I just want to make sure that it goes to a home where they can all live, because living on this busy street here, they really don't have much of a chance at survival. I work with a woman who has chickens and turkeys on a 5-acre farm who is willing to take them. The hardest part would be capturing them to transport them, I imagine.

Anyway.... here's my question.... we are not exactly sure when she started sitting on the eggs, but we're guessing around April 12 or so.

Sooooooo, we should be hearing some chirping pretty soon, right?

She has been sitting on the eggs pretty much non stop since we first noticed her there. I saw her once in the backyard when I was leaving for work, and my mother saw her once again a few days ago and rushed back to the nest to count. There were 13 eggs!

We have put some corn and bread out for her, and a fresh bowl of water each day. We really don't know what to do or to expect. We live on a main road in a residential city south of St. Paul. There are some woods across the highway, and we're guessing that is where Star came from.... but also, she is so tame and would come very close to us to take bread from us, so we wondered if she is someone's pet.

I guess I'm just asking for ANY advice on what we should do, shouldn't do, etc.

We are guessing we should see some movement or hear some peepin pretty soon.

Thanks for any advice!
