Anyone else have an easter egger who lays brown eggs?

I got them from a feed store about an hour from my house. They get them from some place in Texas.

Here are some pics when they were smaller.

Thanks for the compliments. The speckled one is my chicken chicken, she is afraid of her own shadow!

When I lived in Santa Fe (read: lots of sun in the winter!) my EE would pretty much completely stop laying after November. Perhaps I'd find a pretty green egg every couple weeks, but that'd be it. I hope yours are more consistent!

I started with 3 EEs from MPC and two of the girls were gray and taupe with the third being mostly back with a high sheen. I always assumed it was the black on that laid the rose colored egg, and the two Sandys laid the soft aqua colored eggs. Well, right now I have only one Sandy laying, and it is the rose egg. The other Sandy is molting and stopped laying cold two weeks ago. My Black Sandy died from heat this summer. They normally lay 5 eggs a week until lately, I ordered 5 more EEs because they are lovely birds.
Yes my EEs do fly, would zip over 6 ft fences at about 3 months, so I am a regular wing clipper. When the wings assisted sprinting becomes common, I know it is time to trim again.

My Araucana's lay blue to blue green eggs. My EE's lay beautiful bright blue eggs except 1 who lays a brown egg. She doesn't have a pea comb so I kinda expected. The Araucana website says there is a close genetic link between the pea comb and blue eggs so if your hen has a pea comb she will probably lay a blue egg.

I ordered "Araucanas" from McMurray Hatchery and their description says, "The "Easter Egg Chicken", This unusual breed gets its name from the Indian tribe of Chile where they were first discovered. Araucanas lay beautiful colored eggs of blue-green shades from turquoise to deep olive. ".
My birds are 10 weeks and are so personable. I will be very dissapointed if they lay brown eggs. (I have BR's for that.) I bought them specially for the colored eggs.... Hopefully I'll get the eggs I want! :)

The chicks you will get will not be Araucanas. The Araucanas do get their name from the Araucana Indians, however the Easter Egg chicken is a mixed breed bird that can lay any color egg. Hence the Easter Egg name you know like the colors of eggs at easter. Easter Eggers have beards and Muffs. Araucanas lay blue or blue green eggs, never brown, pink or white like Easter Eggers. Araucanas are rumpless and have Tufts of feathers comming out of their ears. The Easter Egger is an awesome chicken and many lay beautiful blue eggs. I have one that lays a brown egg. I still love her. They are quiet and mild, smart chickens. The roos tend to be mild mannered also in my experience. All my Araucanas lay blue or blue green eggs.
